A fifteen-minute walk through the lovely Fitz Park with its rare trees, bowling greens and tennis courts takes you to the heart of Keswick, where there is an abundance of shops, traditional Lake District pubs and good restaurants. Keswick also has its own cinema - the historic Alhambra - and there is an excellent new theatre on the shores of Lake Derwentwater. For those not wanting to walk the local taxis are reliable and inexpensive.
